On April 03, 2024, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Azerbaijan, Carlos Enrique Valdes de la Concepcion, visited the State Translation Centre.
During the meeting, a discussion on translation and publication projects was held, and the importance of presenting contemporary Cuban literature, as well as books dedicated to the life and activities of legendary political figures to Azerbaijani readers was emphasized. Besides, there was an exchange of ideas on the work to be done in this direction.
The Ambassador firstly expressed his desire and hope on the book “The Cuban Student in Baku” by Rafael Tenreyro Pérez, the notable Cuban scientist who studied in Baku in 1969-1974, reflecting the author’s impressions on Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijanis, to be published in Azerbaijani and Spanish. He also spoke about the beginning of a new and much more productive phase in Azerbaijani-Cuban literary relations.
At the end of the meeting, the guest was presented with the edition of the prominent Cuban revolutionary Ernesto Che Guevara’s “The Bolivian Diary” translated into Azerbaijani and published by the Centre.
