Wise Sayings by Heydar Aliyev on German Portal

"Zitate berühmter Personen", the German cultural portal, has published wise words of the world statesman Heydar Aliyev due to the "Year of Heydar Aliyev" declared in Azerbaijan.

The authors of the German translation of the sayings as well as information about the life and work of Heydar Aliyev are the German literary critic Martin Svoboda, and Maryam Samadova, the German language specialist at the AzSTC.

It is worth noting that the portal, which has a wide audience of German-speaking countries, regularly publishes aphorisms of world-famous politicians, philosophers, writers and poets, and information about them.


Heydar Aliyev

Died: December 12, 2003



Heydar Alirza oglu Aliyev had been the most prominent politician and statesman of the Azerbaijan SSR, and then of the independent Republic of Azerbaijan for many years.

From 1969 to 1982 he worked as the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan. In 1982, he was elected a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPSU and at the same time served as the first Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, he was President of the independent Republic of Azerbaijan from 1993-2003.
