The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Azerbaijan, Mr. Christopher Alberto Martinez Berroteran, visited the State Translation Centre the other day. 

During the meeting, views were exchanged on translation and publication projects, as well as the work to be done to promote Venezuelan literature in Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijani literature in Venezuela. The parties exchanged views on the work to be done within the framework of the cooperation between the Centre and the Embassy on the expansion of inter-country literary relations and promotion events. The organizational issues related to the presentation of the book "Kingdom of the Willows" by the famous Venezuelan poetess Ana Maria Oviedo Palomares whose work had been translated and published by the Centre were also discussed. It should be noted that the above-mentioned presentation will be held at the 10th Baku International Book Fair in early October this year.

Stating that literature is the most reliable bridge that unites people, the Ambassador suggested translating and publishing a book of the famous Venezuelan author Miguel Otero Silva in collaboration with the Centre for the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Azerbaijan, which will be celebrated in both countries in May next year. According to him, the book to be published in the Azerbaijani language for the first time will be a significant contribution to the development of friendly and cooperative relations, mutual understanding, as well as to the further strengthening of relations between the two countries.
