“Schreiber Netzwerk”, the popular German literature portal, has posted in German the short story “The Cold Stone” by Yusif Samadoglu, the People’s Writer of Azerbaijan, as part of the AzSTC project “Azerbaijan Literature in an International Virtual World.”

The author of the translation of the story presented with the information about the writer’s creativity is Vilayet Hajiyev, the notable scholar-philologist, and the editor is Hans-Jürgen Maurer. 

It is worth noting that the literary portal “Schreiber Netzwerk”, which has a wide auditorium of readers, regularly publishes works by world famous writers and poets.

Yusif Samadoglu

(1935-1998)

·         writer, cinematographer;

·         graduated from the Faculty of Philology of   Azerbaijan State University and the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute in Moscow;

·         in different years worked as editor-in-chief of “Azerbaijan” magazine and the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio named after J. Jabbarly, and Secretary of the Union of Azerbaijani Writers;

·         is the author of prose books, such as “Room Number 220”, “Galaxy”, “Day of Murder”;

·         such films and documentaries as “The Big Show”, “Jalil Mammadguluzade”, “Samad Vurgun”, “Day of Murder”, “A Fair Wind”, “My Seven Sons” have been made on his scripts;

·         has been awarded the honorary titles as the Honoured Art Worker, the People’s Writer, and the Order of “Shohrat”;

·         his works have been translated into many foreign languages.
