Jalil Mammadguluzadeh’s Creativity on the Literary Portal of Austria

Gedichtesammlung.net, the popular Austrian literary portal, has posted in German the short story “Mailbox” by Jalil Mammadguluzadeh, the prominent writer and playwright of Azerbaijan, as part of the AzSTC project “Azerbaijan Literature in an International Virtual World”.

The authors of the translation of the short story presented with information about the writer’s creativity are Andreas Krieber, the well-known Austrian translator and philologist, and Jafar Jafarov, a German language specialist.

It is worth noting that the literature portal, which has a wide auditorium of readers, regularly publishes works by such famous writers and poets as Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Franz Kafka, Erich Kästner, Pablo Neruda, just to name a few.

(1869–1932)


· the prominent writer-playwright;

· the founder of Molla Nasraddin literary school;

· received his first education in a Mollakhana (ecclesiastical school), then in a Nakhchivan city school; graduated from the Transcaucasian Teachers' Seminary and for some time worked as a teacher in the villages of Iravan province;

· in 1904 worked in the editorial office of Sharqi-Rus newspaper published in Tiflis;

· is the author of novels, stories and plays, such as Stories of Danabash Village, Mailbox, “Master Zeynal, Gurbanali Bey, Gathering of Madmen”, The Dead;

· died on January 4, 1932, in Baku and was buried in the Alley of Honour”;

· by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan on May 7, 2019, his works were declared state heritage.
