UAE Ambassador Visits AzTC

The Azerbaijan Translation Centre under the Cabinet of Ministers (AzTC) on Tuesday received a visit from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Azerbaijan H.E. Mohamed Hamel Alqubaîsî.

After greeting the Arabic diplomat, AzTC Director Afag Masud highlighted AzTC’s activities and projects to enhance literary ties: “Over the past two years, we have realized various projects in the field of literary exchange. We have been cooperating with a variety of international institutions in this field, holding meetings with foreign diplomats accredited to Azerbaijan, and implementing projects on language, literature and translation. We have already translated into several languages and published the two-volume book "An Anthology of Modern Azerbaijan Literature". This work is a part of AzTC's project to popularize and promote Azerbaijani Literature abroad. We are planning to arrange ceremonies abroad for the presentation of the book. The book incorporates works by Azerbaijan’s famous and talented authors. The Arabic version is to be released in Egypt soon. We also want to distribute the work to other Arabic-speaking countries. As a multicultural country, Azerbaijan is open for inter-literary dialogue with all nations throughout the world. The UAE is one of the countries hosting the largest international book fair, and where people love reading books.  I hope that the popularization and promotion of Azerbaijani Literature in your country, exchange of best practices on language, literature and translation will enrich the public morale and enlightenment in the two countries, as well as will strengthen mutual understanding, friendship and fraternity between our nations,” said Afag Masud.

Ambassador Mohamed Hamel, in turn, thanked Afag Masud for the invitation. “I am well-informed and have heard positive comments about the activity of AzTC. We are pleased to cooperate with AzTC. The inter-literary exchange promotes spiritual resurgence of peoples, having a good influence on education. Whatever is a literature, key is that literature could be the carrier of good and positive impacts and significantly contribute to the spread of goodwill in society. Well, people in our country show a deep interest in books and reading as a whole, to such extent that even an employee can enjoy reading a fiction for an hour at the workplace. Literature plays a tremendous role in the formation of a society. In this regard, the activity of the Centre is worthy of all praise. We would see AzTC representatives at international book fairs throughout the United Arab Emirates. We are very happy to receive proposals from you for the promotion of Azerbaijani Literature in our country, and we will do our best to implement them”, said the diplomat

At the conclusion of the meeting, the diplomat was presented with a catalogue, a booklet of publications, and books in Arabic published by AzTC.
