Husein Abbaszade’s Novel “The General” Published for the First Time in Latin Alphabet
The 100th anniversary of Husein Abbaszade, the People’s Writer of Azerbaijan, Honoured Art Worker, is celebrated on November 22 current year.
The writer, who began his creativity with patriotic poems during the Second World War, he was a direct participant of the war, remained true to this theme and from time to time wrote several novels and short stories that instil his readers in feelings of love for the Motherland, selflessness and courage.
“The General”, “Whirls”, “In the Surf”, “Where are you from, Monsieur Abel?”, “The Story of Karadag”, “Shadow Falls on the House”, “Guest from afar”, to name a few by Husein Abbaszade retain their relevance and importance to the present day with their national flavour, authenticity, and the ability to talk to readers of every era in their language.
The novel “The General”, telling about the courage and military valour of Hazi Aslanov, the legendary Azerbaijani General, Major General of the Guards of Tank Forces, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, is one of the rare documentary and historical works written on military patriotism in our national literature.
The book, published for the first time in the Latin Alphabet by the State Translation Centre in honour of the writer’s jubilee, will be available one of these days at one of the many bookstore locations listed below in the coming days:
