Lithuanian Journalist Who Witnessed Khojaly Tragedy Visits Translation Centre
Today, the Azerbaijan State Translation Centre had the pleasure of receiving the visit of Richardas Lapaytis, a reputable Lithuanian journalist who serves as editor in chief of the socio-political newspaper "Lazdijų žvaigždė"("Star of Lazdijai”).
The exchange centred around the bloody events in Khojaly and the documentary and publicistic work by Lapaytis who witnessed hostilities in Karabakh. And the meeting discussed ways to take measures towards promoting universal awareness of this massacre.
The guest said that he often comes to Azerbaijan and, in particular, meets people in frontline areas: “I try to expose to the world the true face of [these] Armenian occupants and unspeakable atrocities they have committed for years. The Endless Corridor, a film about the Khojaly genocide, has been based on my work and screened in many countries across the world, receiving international awards. As this endless pain has already engulfed me, I will devote the rest of my life to ferreting out the truth about this tragedy and securing justice.”
In conclusion, the Lithuanian author promised to write a piece about how he witnessed the Karabakh events of 1990. “There is also a plan to translate and publish this work in many languages abroad with a view to communicating these events to the world community.”
