We should contribute to building literary ties between our countries - Chile’s Chargé d’affaires
The Azerbaijan State Translation Centre (AzSTC) on June 17, Thursday received a visit from Fidel Coloma Grimberg, Chargé d'affaires of the Republic of Chile to Azerbaijan.
The parts exchanged views on world literature, including samples of Chilean literature in Azerbaijani translation that were released by AzSTC in different years, at the same time considered further steps to be taken with a view to expanding literary ties between Azerbaijan and Chile.
Fidel Koloma Qrimberg said: “We highly appreciate your efforts to have promoted since the 1990s Chilean authors, particularly outstanding Chilean poet Pablo Neruda’s works in Azerbaijan. And we put strong emphasis on the dissemination of Azerbaijani literature across Chile and other Latin American countries. We intend to continue to strengthen this work in cooperation between your Centre and relevant institutions in Chile. We consider it important that the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Culture, which is directly dealing with these issues, be involved in these projects.”
In conclusion, the honorary guest was donated a copy of the book in Azerbaijani - Pablo Neruda’s A Song of Despair.
