An Anthology of Modern Turkish Literature Presented in Baku

On 5 June, the Translation Centre under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Azerbaijan (AzTC) held a presentation of the book  An Anthology of Modern Turkish Literature (Prose).

The Yunus Emre Institute in Baku hosted the presentation ceremony. Erkan Ozoral, Ambassador of Turkey in Azerbaijan, Irfan Chiftchi, the Embassy’s Counsellor for Cultural Affairs, Ms Ufuk Arja Turganer, the representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Osman Cheviksoy, Deputy Chairman, a writer, Eurasian Writers’ Union, and outstanding intellectuals of Azerbaijan  attended the event.

The Director of the Translation Centre under the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, Afag Masud opened the ceremony. A. Masud stated:” The Modern Turkish Literature has never been presented in such a format in Azerbaijan, and it is the first serious project in the field of literary translation. Presently, AzTC works on an Anthology of Contemporary Turkish Poetry.

Then the floor was given to Erkan Ozoral, Ambassador of Turkey in Azerbaijan. The Ambassador highly appreciated the activity of the AzTC in promoting the literature of brotherly countries- Turkey and Azerbaijan. “The AzTC’s book is a visual demonstration of brotherhood of Azerbaijan and Turkey”, said the diplomat. 

Osman Cheviksoy, Deputy Chairman, Eurasian Writers’ Union spoke about the design and literary value of the Anthology. He expressed his gratitude on behalf of his Union for the high quality translation and graceful design. Osman Cheviksoy honored Afag Masud with the Union’s Honorable Diploma.

Speaking at the ceremony, the guests talked about the importance of the project in establishing literary relations between the two brotherly countries.
