Farid Huseyn and Shahin Alasgarov, representatives of the Azerbaijan Translation Centre (AzTC), visited the Literary Department of Ain Shams University in Cairo.
Mr Huseyn in detail informed the dean and the staff about the history and activities of AzTC, Karabakh truths, and both Azerbaijani literature and culture. Mr Abdur-Razig Barakat, the dean of the faculty, noted the special interest in Azerbaijani literature and culture in Egypt.
“We welcome your participation at the 46th Cairo International Book Fair,” he said. “We are especially pleased with the news that you are going to favour the library of our faculty with your books. A book is a sacred gift. Many Azerbaijanis study at our university, and they are also very glad to see you here. We would like to embark on editing and reviewing books to be translated by professionals from Azerbaijani into Arabic and from Arabic into Azerbaijani. Today’s talented graduates of our faculty are among the outstanding figures of Egyptian literature. We’d like to extend literary and cultural exchanges, and to present works by Azerbaijani authors to our students and bibliophiles in a better way.”
Later on, AzTC representatives met with the students and academic staff of Ain-Shams University and familiarized themselves with the university library.
