AzTC held press conference
Posted November 5, 2014
Outstanding works, the state of translation work in the country, as well as pressing problems and their solutions were the focus of the press conference the Translation Centre under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Azerbaijan Republic (AzTC) held at the Baku-based International Press Center on Friday, November 5, 2014. The event was dedicated to AzTC activities relating to past and upcoming commitments.
In his opening remarks, Media and Publishing Consultant Farid Huseyn, who chaired the press conference, underlined the Presidential decrees and orders relating to the formation of the Translation Centre.
After focusing on AzTC’s history and its projects that are underway, Head of the AzTC Administration Yashar Aliyev pointed to the valuable traditions AzTC has built so far. “With great dedication and scanty financial resources, Afag Masud, popular writer, managed the publication of Khazar world literary magazine and series of books until the AzTC was created.”
“Today President Ilham Aliyev gave ample opportunity to professional translators, thus committing us to come along” he said. “Translation work, in the first instance, is meant to serve own native language and rapprochement process of all world languages. Each language becomes richer and more improved in the process of the so-called “clashes of other languages” and communication. This profession is regulated through the translation industry. Furthermore, some people think that AzTC is going to deal only with literary translation, but I would rather disagree with such interpretation. AzTC will carry out diversified and broad activities to cover ranging from advertisement boards, film dubbing to all fields of translation - scientific, technical, legal, medical, etc.”
The event also included a presentation of AzTC (www.aztc.gov.az ) and Aydin Yol weekly newspaper’s websites (www.aydinyol.az ).
