Haji Murad's corpse will be handled to Azerbaijan
One of Imam Shamil's companion-in-arms, Avar by origin, great commander Haji Murad 's skull will be handled to Azerbaijan side to be buried. He was the personage of great Lev Tolstoy's story. His mummified skull had been kept at Kunstcamera in St. Petersburg for a long time, then was moved to and kept at the State Museum of the History of Religion.
In 2000, the exhibit was put to a special locker room at the Russian Academy of Sciences. The commander's bones were buried near Shaki city.
